FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’s)
- When
should I buy a used forklift
instead of a new one? Many
times this decision is based
on the number of hours a day
the forklift will be used. As
a rule of thumb an operation
using the truck 3-4 hours a day
will need a used truck, and more
than 3-4 hours a day will need
a new truck. However, there
are other concerns such as the
environment, application, etc.
We will evaluate your needs and
make the best recommendation
for your operation.
- Is
financing available for used
and new forklifts? We
can arrange financing for either
new or used equipment. Because
we are an authorized Nissan dealer,
we can offer better than market
rates on your new equipment purchases,
but due to the number of transactions
we complete monthly, our used
rates are also very competitive.
- Should
I purchase an electric or LP
gas unit? Your
work environment will dictate
whether an electric or gas truck
is preferred. Some of the concerns
are the environment, hours used,
emission restrictions, and general
application. Our sales staff
will gladly visit your facility
to help guide in your purchase
decision.
- Do
I need to purchase a service
contract with my equipment? We
recommend that you have some
sort of regular inspection and
maintenance of your equipment.
We offer periodic Planned Maintenance,
or Full Maintenance Agreements.
Please contact us to discuss
the benefits of either plan.
- What
kind of training is required
to operate a forklift? You
are required to have a valid
state driver’s
license as well as on-the-job operator
training to operate a forklift. In
addition, OSHA (Occupational Safety
and Health Administration) requires
that each forklift operator completes
forklift safety training. This training
insures that each operator can drive
a forklift in a safe manner that
will not endanger co-workers or company
property. OSHA will conduct periodic
surprise inspections and penalties
for non-compliance can range up to
$7,000. For more information, visit
the OSHA website at www.osha.gov.
Each of our branches employ qualified
safety trainers if you need assistance.
- When
should I replace my forklift
tires? The general
rule of thumb is when the outer
diameter is 20% less than the
original diameter it is time
to replace your tires. Tires,
forks, and chains are just some
of the items we check during
a Planned Maintenance Service
call. Our commitment is to insure
you always have the information
to keep your forklift in a safe
operating condition.
- Can you
put pneumatic tires on a solid
tire forklift? No, it is physically
impossible due to the frame
differences between a solid tire
forklift and a forklift with pneumatic
tires.
- How do I know what
size forklift that I need to purchase? This is entirely dependent
on your application. Factors
such as operating surfaces,
work heights, and aisle widths
play a crucial role in your decision.
Each manufacturer offers slightly
different types of equipment that
may or may not serve your needs.
For example, we offer a Nissan
Nomad forklift that is designed
for both outdoor and indoor applications
unlike other trucks that are designed
for one or the other. Our sales
people are trained to assist you
in asking the right questions and
developing the best solutions to
your unique situation.
- Why should
I purchase a Nissan instead of
a competitors forklift? Nissan forklifts
are known for their innovative
designs, durable construction, and
long lasting power trains. We have
one of the largest staffs of U.S.
based engineers who are constantly
working to design the best trucks
to meet your specific requirements.
- Can your company work
on my other brand of forklifts? Yes. Our
technicians are trained to work on
most brands of forklifts.
- Do you
offer parts for other brands of
lift trucks? Yes. We have several
sources at our disposal to supply
you with parts for other brands.
- If my forklift is down
what do I do? We offer a wide range of sizes
and types of forklifts to rent
until your forklift is repaired.
Fortunately, most repairs can be
done at your location.
- How much
does it cost to have someone visit
my location to discuss my needs? Nothing. We will gladly, at no
charge, visit your location to discuss
your service, parts, rentals, or
equipment needs.
